At 17 & after 12 years in the NZ schooling system - 5 at Kadimah College, a private school (Kadimah was pretty good i guess, but the rest was ho-hum @ best), & then the remaining 2 at Avondale Intermediate & 5 at Auckland Grammar, both public schools - i was certainly disassociated from any understanding of the 'value of a good education', & never wanted to 'go back to school' again...EVER...so the ability to judge a good education is critical to me now that our son is 2, & not so long from now, we will have to decide what part, if any, of the formal education system he is to enter...

...i must admit to having only read some reviews & the prologue of 'The Underground History of American Education', however am working my way thru the online version, @ least as long as my interest holds...!!!
