...the clock strikes the witching hour...

Namaste!

From a fellow blogger - thanx Adam! - stating the obvious for the 2009 USA presidential election:

Why NOT to vote for Hillary Clinton

Do we really want history to line up Presidential names like this?

1988 - Bush
1992 - Clinton
1996 - Clinton
2000 - Bush
2004 - Bush
2008 - Clinton (since we just like to be popular, have short term memories and no sense of history)

2012 - Clinton (because parties have been renamed Clintons and Bushies. We decide we like a leader who can spell, pronounce words and complete sentences and she can't possibly screw up the country any more than the previous guy did in eight years.)

2016 - Bush (because there are plenty more and we've proven ourselves to have short term memories, no sense of history and like four letter words)

Why not elect Blake and Alexis Carrington Colby (John Forsythe and Joan Collins on Dynasty) and we can call politics what it really is. A prime time soap opera with a big budget. Note that I didn't say JR Ewing because I don't want Secret Service at my door asking who shot him.

Really people, if that's not a good reason...what is??!!??

Mystery de jour

Namaste!

Why did it brighten so...?

17P/Holmes is a periodic comet in our solar system discovered by the British amateur astronomer Edwin Holmes on November 6, 1892. In late October 2007 the comet brightened significantly, by nearly a million times, from magnitude 17 to magnitude 2.8 over a few hours.

When Banana's Go Bad - 'Chiquita' Cornered in Court

Namaste!

Who's the terrorist now???

..e...quotable quote from above link:

"On March 14, 2007, Chiquita Brands was fined $25 million as part of a settlement with the United States Justice Department for having ties to Colombian paramilitary groups. According to court documents, between 1997 and 2004, high ranking corporate officers paid approximately $1.7 million to the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia, the AUC, in exchange for employee protection in Colombia's volatile banana harvesting zone. Similar payments were also made to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), as well as the National Liberation Army (ELN) from 1989 to 1997 [1][2]. All three of these groups are on the U.S. State Department's list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations.

On March 19, 2007, Chiquita Brands admitted in federal court that the company paid Colombian terrorists to protect employees at its most profitable banana-growing operation. As part of a deal with prosecutors, the company pleaded guilty to one count of doing business with a terrorist organization. In exchange, the company will pay a $25-million fine and court documents will not reveal the identities of the several senior executives who approved the illegal protection payments [2].

Chiquita currently faces serious charges in a lawsuit issued in June 2007. According to the attorney of 173 family members of victims of the AUC militia this could be the biggest terrorist case in history and may put Chiquita out of business. "Terry Collingsworth, a lawyer with International Rights Advocates who is leading the multi-million dollar litigation, said: "This is a landmark case, maybe the biggest terrorism case in history. In terms of casualties, it's the size of three World Trade Center attacks. [3]"

...e...note the detail in the Bibliography on the article, & how much effort has gone into spin-control in recent years, only to be fined US$25,000,000 in March 2007...e..."Bugger, we're buggered!!!" i can hear the exec's lamenting..e...

Favourite inspirational words of wisdom...

Namaste>>>

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

...e...agape...e...

Namaste!

...e...the spiral is the symbol for philerosophi, & 'e' is the closest i could get to picture this easily; without learning how to draw pictures that is...e...which i DO have to learn soon...e...philerosophilerosophilerosophi...e...since it circle's back into itself...e...but change moves in spirals, not circle's, so MORE 'love comes to town' in the form of agape...e...AGAPE! the infinite, eternal "i am" is in the Agape; a gap-e...e!...so we have:

1 - philia; 'masculine' ?brotherly? love
2 - eros ; 'feminine' ?erotic? love
3 - sophia; God give me the wisdom to know the difference...
4 - agape; 'androgenous' ?spiritual? love

The Greek words for 'love'...!

...e...so why the '?...?' around the forms of love above?...e...because, like all words, love's meaning changes over the ages with the word's expansion into new realms, or contraction from previous vista's, giving us an appreciation of how the grandious meta-metaphor of love itself spiral's through different strands of understanding...e...yet always remaining erotically interwoven within itself...

...thus, finally, 'agape' is the mystery that completes the trinity of 'the types of love', the light between, the no-thing, a gap 'e' between the different types of love, & how to loosly define the difference amongst them?...e...yet also delineate the continuance of them...e...turning the circle into a spiral so growth can continue & we escape the trap of the circle...e...apparently pi, yet in real-it-i; phi!!...e...!!...can be both oh so easily as well if one's imagination can stretch into the irrational...e...which is what both of these numbers are after all; irrational...e...trancendental...e...it's all spiritual...e...

...e...i found it very interesting how in the previous link it was described as originally being closely associated with feasting; like the food was consciously being viewed as the material symbol for the ultimate sacrifice...e...giving all of itself for the good of others...e...

More on the 'Agape feast' here

...e...HOWEVER if you look up the 'Agape' Wikipedia entry by itself, it is defined differently again from 'The Greek words for 'love'' link above:

'Agape' defined in isolation

ANYWAY..!!

i think i'd forgotten to introduce agape before this...? have i?

It's funny that these irrational, trancendental numbers also are 1, 2, 3 + a bit for each of them:

'pi' & 'phi' with 'e' being the 3rd irrational number in the set - didn't know that till now!

...enough for now...e...!

What is 'Education'????

Namaste!

At 17 & after 12 years in the NZ schooling system - 5 at Kadimah College, a private school (Kadimah was pretty good i guess, but the rest was ho-hum @ best), & then the remaining 2 at Avondale Intermediate & 5 at Auckland Grammar, both public schools - i was certainly disassociated from any understanding of the 'value of a good education', & never wanted to 'go back to school' again...EVER...so the ability to judge a good education is critical to me now that our son is 2, & not so long from now, we will have to decide what part, if any, of the formal education system he is to enter...

This guy below, though speaking from an American perspective, has some interesting things to say...

www.johntaylorgatto.com/

...i must admit to having only read some reviews & the prologue of 'The Underground History of American Education', however am working my way thru the online version, @ least as long as my interest holds...!!!

1,2,3,4...

Namaste!

It occurs to me, rather obviously now, that since we all live in & share a material world, all that is necessary to locate the nexus of the 'small' self is some co-ordinates...these will do nicely:

1 - height
2 - depth
3 - width
4 - time

...& there 'i' am, in the wound, the scar, that is the navel of my brain-mind...

"The umbilicus is also used to visually separate the abdomen into quadrants. The navel comes in the center of the circle enclosing the spread-eagle figure in Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, his famous drawing on human proportions. This illustrates the principle that in the shift between the spread-eagle pose and the straight pose, the apparent center of the figure seems to move, but in reality, the navel of the figure, which is the true center of gravity, remains motionless.

The height at which navels are located on the abdomen is variable. An ideal proportion of navel height versus body height is said to be based on the Golden Section, also known as the "Divine Proportion" by philosophers and artists. This is a geometric proportion in which a line is divided so that the ratio of the length of the longer line segment to the length of the entire line is equal to the ratio of the length of the shorter line segment to the length of the longer line segment. This Golden Section ratio has a numerical value of approximately 1.618. In other words, an ideal navel height is about 62% of the body height and is said to exhibit special beauty as the legs and torso appear in sound proportion." Wikipedia

...mine own microcosm of the universe, the centrepoint of thine own personal axis mundi...it all emanates from moi!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axis_mundi

Of course, all other 'i's' have their own centrepoint as well, & these join into the larger & larger axes mundi of the locale, region, continent, planet, solar system, galaxy, local group...yup, there we are, Milky Way, right smack in the centre...

...& after the local group???

This macro-microcosm, moves up into the meta-macrocosm, & the 'great self', becomes beyond one's imagination & blends into the One...just as the One blends back into the one, we have a multiverse of versions of 'i' all in between & all around, each reaching out for more connection by infinite strands of axes mundi forever within, & forever without...

Constantly downloading the Akashic records to such a vast degree, it's no wonder we are all on the journey of the...

..."Wounded Healer is an archetypal dynamic that psychologist Carl Jung used to describe a phenomenon that may take place in the relationship between analyst and patient.

Jung theorized that there were several modes of communication between analyst and analysand in regards to the "wounded healer phenomena"; a common one being the following example:

The psychiatrist, through the nature of his profession is consciously aware of his own personal wounds. However, these wounds may be activated in certain situations, especially if his patient's wounds are similar to his own. (This can be the basis of countertransference).
In the meantime, the wounded patient's "inner healer" is unconscious to him, but potentially available.
The patient's wounds activate those of the doctor. The doctor realizes what is taking place, and either consciously or unconsciously passes this awareness back to his patient.
In this way, an unconscious relationship takes place between analyst and patient.
Jung felt that this type of depth psychology can be potentially dangerous, because the analyst is vulnerable to being infected by his patient's wounds, or having his or her wounds reopened. Also, the analyst must have an ongoing relationship with the unconscious, otherwise he or she could identify with the "healer archetype", and create an inflated ego.

Jung derives the term "wounded healer" from the ancient Greek legend of Asclepius, a physician who in identification of his own wounds creates a sanctuary at Epidaurus in order to treat others."

Further thoughts on evolving generations...

Namaste!

The inter-generational creation of myth...very few, if any, people get to meet their great great grandparent/s...so that by the 4th generation all 'alive' connection with a 'fact' is lost entirely to story telling...

1st - my parent ... 'fact'
2nd - my grandparent ... becomes story
3rd - my great grandparent ... becomes chinese whisper
4th - my great great grandparent ... becomes myth ??? 1-2-3-4 ???
