Short short story I wrote a few years back...

...& entered into 2014 BNZ literary awards in the short, short story category; 500 words max...didn't get any recognition then, but came across again today & decided to post it here for posteritys sake...liked it then, & still do as a semi-real reflection on an often lonely childhood...

Still Waters Run Deep
Fragile as a leaf, the boat floated briskly down the raging torrent carrying its single lonely passenger. He heard the waterfall long before seeing it, so when the final corner turned the bow, he was not surprised as the craft swiftly upended & disappeared into the yawning maw...oblivion...
'Hook line & sinker', the boy mused broodily, as he watched the leaf carrying the Lego man vanish down the drain.
'Serves you right', he mumbled, repeating the words of the bully's earlier in the day.
Why did they always say that?
Tears flooded afresh down into his open mouth, & he sullenly reflected on how the saltiness reminded him of the taste of blood after the first punch hooked into his cheek.
'Stop wasting hose water again!' his drunk father shouted suddenly from the flat door.
'Why don't you just go & play with the other kids again?' he sneered. 'Scaredy-cat?'
Why indeed?
'OK dad, I'll go...'

Why McCann Dropped a Statue of a ‘Fearless Girl’ Next to Wall Street’s Charging Bull Overnight

Simon Wood Most relevant quote for the pseudo-benevolent quasi-Patriarchy is kept until the last... #### "An MSCI study suggested companies with strong female leadership generated a return on equity of 10.1 percent per year, versus 7.4 percent for those without a critical mass of women at the top, SSGA said. Yet one in four Russell 3000 companies don’t have even one woman on their board, and nearly 60 percent of boards are less than 15 percent women."#### ...soon it will come to pass that us men must decide when we drop the sad Quasimodo act, ditch the pseudo quasi 1/2 theory, & go full tilt gilted benevolent or hard core self adore guilted malevolent, but go all the way we must, so we can look forward to a bright or dark future for Gaia & all her sentient denizens...just need to decide if we choose frozen, inept death or dynamic, creative immortality...time to choose...like...so last century...why *don't* we just *do* it...?...to what benefit do we cleave to remain ignorant of the true wholehearted mess that is required for authentic, inclusive "victory"...but the mess would be temporary, as long as corporate 1% patriarchy committed to revolutionise the concept of "return to shareholders", simply admit they can no longer extermalaise socialised costs, & grant the gravy train of the 1% amongst all of us...if 1% can hold those values that exterminate the least amongst us, then 1% is self-evidently doomed to self destruction...the 1% must admit they are on a suicide trip, & radically revolutionise their ways, get back to the radicle in the roots, & husband that garden, guard this Eden, & glorify in the fully shared abundance of Gaia...& here's courage & renewed hope to those of our mothers, sisters & daughters already (long) helping this possible future to come to pass...keep on doing the good work to those who have, again, long laboured on a wholistic heaven on earth goal, & a helping hand to those wo/men who daily continue to see the error in the corporate walking dead corpse "1% business plan" & are instead investing their energy & passion into an inclusive wo/mans future for our beloved planet...all wo/man, regardless of born or chosen gender, should lead us on the loving compassionate way...it's only natural...& so the story goes...peace & love...why...??...why not...??:-)

I believe that, if a triangle could speak, it would say, in like manner, that God is eminently triangular, while a circle would say that the divine nature is eminently circular. Thus each would ascribe to God its own attributes, would assume itself to be like God, and look on everything else as ill-shaped.
